Below are some examples of our Solid Modeling capabilities. A 3D CAD model can contain either prismatic or freeform geometry (NURBS surfaces) and can be dimension driven (parametric) or characterized by high density point data such as that which is obtained using a 3D scanner. These virtual models can be constructed from readings obtained by direct measurement or from a scan mesh. Solid models are particularly important for product definition and process control as engineering drawings are typically derived from a corresponding model. Solid models are used for both manufacturing (CAM) and inspection (CAI).
